Dropby Privacy Policy

A user has full control of their information when using Dropby. We believe you should always know what data we collect from you and how we use it, and that you should have meaningful control over both. We want to empower you to make the best decisions about the information that you share with us. That’s the basic purpose of this Privacy Policy.

 

During registration your information is required so others can identify you. You will be asked to provide your name, phone number of your mobile device and select a photo for your profile. In addition we will require information your workplace and educational institute that let others users to better . You may add links about your social media and depending on your visibility preference settings, others users will be able to see this information. To make signup simple and limited, we have included API signup from LinkedIn services.  You can change your visibility and stop sharing your information with other users at any time.

Information Share with us

If you do choose to use Dropby, you must provide us with some personal data so that we can provide our services to you. Information about you that may be collected in a number of ways:

Voluntary Personal information. When you register for Dropby, it will ask you to use your phone number to sign up. The phone number acts as your account signup. You will also be asked to provide your name, photo, access to your contacts, professional and education information. In addition you may provide information about yourself that you would like other users to see.  As of now we are collecting your information based on your LinkedIn account. Using LinkedIn improves user authentication and simplies adding info to your profile for us. You can review and edit the information that is imported from your LinkedIn account for conformation.

Contact information Access: During registration, you will be asked to provide Dropby with permission to access contact information from your phone. Your phone contact information access will you to control your visibility settings among your contacts and strangers. By allowing access, you are authorizing us to periodically upload and sync your contacts. You can also manually sync the contacts from the menu.

Location Information:  

For Dropby to work, we need to know where you are. During registration you will be asked for permission to access your location information. Allowing it will let the app to check your location and show other users around you. 

Location for Radar Maps: Dropby provides an overview radar map to others users and serves as a hotspot. You personal information that includes your name, photo and link to your proles will not be shared on the map. 

Location for directions: When you accept to meet someone on Dropby, it will display your location temporarily on the map. This is to let you and the other user navigate to meet while decreasing the use of text messages.

Direct Messages: 

We provide certain features that let you communicate privately in the form of message. When you communicate with others by sending or receiving Direct Messages, we will store and process your communications and information related to them. We also use information about whom you have communicated with and when (but not the content of those communications) to better understand the use of our services, to protect the safety and integrity of our platform. We share the content of your Direct Messages with the people you’ve sent them to. When you use Direct Messages to communicate, please remember that recipients will have their own copy of your communications on Dropby - even if you delete.

Law, Harm, and the Public Interest

Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this Privacy Policy or controls we may otherwise offer to you, we may preserve, use, or disclose your personal data if we believe that it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to protect the safety of any person; to protect the safety or integrity of our platform, including to help prevent spam, abuse, or malicious actors on our services, or to explain why we have removed content or accounts from our services; to address fraud, security, or technical issues; or to protect our rights or property or the rights or property of those who use our services. However, nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to limit any legal defenses or objections that you may have to a third party’s, including a government’s, request to disclose your personal data.

 

Affiliates and Change of Ownership

In the event that Dropby is involved in a bankruptcy, merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, your personal data may be sold or transferred as part of that transaction. This Privacy Policy will apply to your personal data as transferred to the new entity.

 

Non-Personal Information

We share or disclose non-personal data, such as aggregated information like the total number of times people engaged in a dropby meetup session, the number of people is a given location and their tags.

Managing Your Personal Information With Us

You control the personal data you share with us. You can access or rectify this data at any time. You can also deactivate your account. 

If you have registered an account on Dropby, we provide you with option to access, correct, delete, or modify the personal data you provided to us and associated with your account.

 

Account Deletion

We keep Log Data for a maximum of 3 months. In the dropby’s menu, you go to settings and select “Delete Dropby Account” , your account will be deactivated and then deleted. When deactivated, your Dropby account, including your display name, photo and public profile, will no longer be viewable to users.

Age Restrictions, Children, and Our Services

Our services are not directed to children and minors, and you may not use our services if you are under the age of 18. You must also be old enough to consent to the processing of your personal data in your country and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from persons under the age of 18.

If you are located outside of the United States, please note that Dropby is hosted on computer servers in the United States. Therefore, your information may be processed and stored in the United States.
